About Sharena

In addition to being an accomplished poet, spoken word artist and educator, Sharena is a female advocate for women, pushing the boundaries and always campaigning for their voices to be heard in society.

Since Sharena’s release of ‘She’, her first published collection with The Verve back in November 2020 at the midst of the pandemic, Sharena has been a real advocate for encouraging poetry and passionately supporting the art form in her city of Bradford and beyond. She believes in the power of poetry and works extremely hard within her community and online to make sure poetry is accessible for all. This has seen her nominated for the National Diversity award 2022, One of the 21’ of 2021 creatives most likely to make an impact on Bradford’s cultural scene and The British Indian awards 2020, her work is seen locally and nationally amongst schools and Universities, working with organisations and delivering community projects. Most recently working with Maya Productions, Hospice UK, Women Zone, Bradford Literature festival, Huddersfield literature festival, Sangam festival. Abda Khan, The Leap, Bradford Libraries and Leeds Play House.

Sharena is a passionate poet who believes in the power of poetry and is a true advocate for poetry in Yorkshire and beyond!

Sharena’s AIM High Writing Days

Sharena’s A.I.M. High Writing Day will be gently led with seed-sowing creative activities that will help ease the students into discovering the magic of poetry and creative writing. Sharena’s creative approach really encourages children of all ages to want to explore poetry and the spoken word.

This will be followed with creative mindfulness poetry exercises that will strengthen the root of poetry learning.

This creative day will be uplifting, positive and will help build confidence skills in preparation for a final performance event at the end of the day where the student’s creative skills will blossom.
