About Thomas
Thomas Rogers is the author of the Snorp series, which was first introduced in 2020.
Tom’s passion lies in bringing imaginative worlds to life, which he also incorporates in his fantastic A.I.M. High days. Tom's mission is simple - to make reading and writing enjoyable!
Thomas’s AIM High Writing Days
During Tom’s A.I.M. High day, children will delve into the art of world-building, exploring the intricate details that make up rich and immersive fictional universes capable of hosting countless narratives.
Guided by Thomas, children learn how to construct unique and versatile worlds, drawing inspiration from masterful creators like J.R.R. Tolkien. As a reference, Thomas provides a world design document from his own novel, “The Princess ofJunk”.
In addition to world-building, Thomas’s workshops also focus on character development.
Participants discover how a character’s journey can drive personal growth and transformation. Thomas guides them through the process of enhancing character’s powers and skills by crafting experiences that shape and challenge them.
Social interaction and collaborative storytelling are key elements of Thomas’s workshops.
The “Activity Story Snakes” session encourages children to pass a paper story snake, with each contributing a section to collectively create a complete story. Alongside this engaging exercise, Thomas shares a concise history of storytelling, illustrating how narratives have evolved across different eras.
The day culminates with pupils sharing their created worlds and passing them on to another pupil. Within these shared worlds, new stories are born, nurtured by the imaginations of the participants. The sense of accomplishment and community fostered throughout the workshops amplifies the joy and impact of their creative endeavours.
