What is an AIM High Science Day?

Local schools send keen young scientists to a central host school where they will spend the day working in a small group with a Science Specialist, exploring new ideas and scientific concepts and learning that within the world of science your imagination is the limit!

They are inclusive workshops where all students with an interest in science, regardless of ability, are encouraged to get involved and engage with science in a fun and highly interactive way.  Days are led by specialists from a wide range of disciplines, including Space School, Evolution & Inheritance, Habitats, and Robotics.

Whatever the theme of the AIM High Science Day, all participants will have the opportunity to explore and engage with new ideas, collaborate with like-minded science enthusiasts from other local schools, and they might even get to meet a scorpion, a snake or even a robot!

Whilst the focus of each AIM High Day may be slightly different, AIM High Science Days cover core curriculum areas including;

  • Gaining a broader understanding of the scientific world around us and learning how to ask scientific questions

  • Understanding nature, processes and scientific methods

  • Learning about the uses and implications of science

  • Collaboration, oracy and communication
