Halloween: Let students embrace reading and writing with a scary theme?
Halloween, as we are sure everyone knows, falls on the 31st October. Children enjoy all the dressing up and getting a few frightful jumps in during the weeks building up to Halloween. Why not capitalise on this and use it as a chance to get them more involved in reading for pleasure? Even reluctant writers are usually keen to join in and try to write a ghost story to scare their classmates.
Why not organise a Halloween themed author visit?
We have a huge host of authors who write horror for children and teenagers, as well as many specialist ghost authors.
Some notable authors who would be fantastic at getting students in a spooky and literary mood are G.P Taylor, Cliff McNish, Leo Hunt, Alan Gibbons and William Hussey.
If you are brave enough and up for the challenge please get in touch with Trevor Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone him on +44 (0) 1535 656015 to arrange for any of the above to visit your school.
Details of what each author offers in their workshops and visits are detailed on the author pages section of our website.
