All About Sally Flint

Sally Flint has worked in schools for 24 years. Much of that time was spent as a Secondary English teacher, but in recent years Sally has worked as Head of Libraries in Bangkok Patana School in Thailand where she has loved instilling in the children a love of reading and books. Sally’s position of reading with children of all ages daily stands her in good stead for knowing what children enjoy reading and what issues are important to enjoy.

Sally’s first story The Day the Wi-Fi Broke has proved hugely popular and a best seller in international schools, and the large book chain-stores in Bangkok. The story is a warm and humorous account exploring how Lucy and her family cope when their wi-fi breaks down. With the help of Grandpa William they find things better than they had dared hope. With a clever twist at the end and a lovely sub-plot revealed in illustrations alone this is a real hit amongst the children. Her second book Just Five More Minutes features the same family of characters and piques the amusement of children and parents alike. We all like to do what we enjoy for a little while longer!

In addition to children’s books, Sally has co-authored, along with Lorraine Illing, a popular self-help book aimed, primarily, at the parents of children completing the IB Diploma programme. A Parents’ Survival Guide to the IB. Having, between them six children between successfully complete the IB, along with a background in education, they are able to use insider knowledge, humour and empathy to share advice for parents helping their children manage the challenges that post 16 education brings.

Sally is currently available for work as a visiting author and library consultant. More details can be found about her at Do read her regular blog posts at which she discusses reading, books and celebrates life as a fifty something.
