All About Poet Mania

pOETMANIA are London-based performance poets Joshua Seigal and Neal Zetter. They run fun, interactive poetry performances and workshops for either primary or secondary schools, with a focus on building confidence, raising standards and harnessing creativity in literacy and communication.

Joshua Seigal writes and performs entertaining poetry for people of all ages. He is an experienced and charismatic workshop leader and is a critically-acclaimed veteran of two Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, where he has taken his one-man children’s poetry shows.

Neal Zetter is a London-based comedy performance poet – with a 25 year background in communication management and mentoring – who uses poetry (writing and/or performance) to develop literacy, confidence, self-esteem, creativity and communication skills in 5-105 year olds. (But please, not 106 year-olds; that’s just too old.)

pOETMANIA’s School Visits

Ideal for KS2, KS3 and KS4, this is a dynamic and fun day run by two poets who are also experienced teachers and entertainers. Events can be tailored to the individual needs of your schools, but a sample format is as follows:

• Joshua and Neal run a two hour workshops (running alongside each other) with groups of up to 30 pupils. The best poems from each group will be selected for performance to the whole group
• Plenary, in which the best poems are performed and perhaps judged by a panel of teachers in the manner of a Slam!

Aims Of Day

• Improved self-expression, self-esteem, confidence and creativity in a fun, supportive and non-judgemental environment
• Encourage pupils to develop their own poetry style
• Give pupils experience of two ‘real life’ professional performance poets
• Give pupils an insight into how poets write and work
• Provide pupils with an opportunity to learn and develop in a fun, interesting way
